Chloe's Story of Self

An issue that I hold close to my heart is the issue of education. More specifically, the importance of making sure all kids from all socio-economic status’ receive a solid education. One of the main institutions in everyone’s life is education, whether it’s actively in your life or not. If it is, that means you’re attending, experiencing, and socializing with education, and if it isn’t, that means you’re suffering the repercussions of not having the ability to get an education. Although education beyond your high school years isn’t the only tool to success in life, all the years leading up to it are very crucial. Not everyone is wired to be a successful college student, but in order to make a bigger impact on our world, I believe education in some way, shape, or form is critical. Especially for those kids who can’t afford a college education of their own, elementary through high school might be the only education they ever receive. As someone who falls under that category, I would say it was extremely stressful trying to figure out how I could possibly go to college and avoid as much debt as possible. I’m also one of the lucky ones, though, I don’t have a family to support, I have parents with great credit so they could cosign my loans, and I was able to earn a decent amount of scholarship money. There are plenty of people in this world who aren’t as lucky as I was, so what if they can’t get a college education? How can we ensure those kids feel just as prepared for the real world as everyone else. In my mind, giving kids who fall under this category the most amount of education possible would propel this world forward in ways we can’t even imagine. But it must happen NOW. We cannot wait for another generation or two or three of kids having to endure the issue that is a college education. All kids deserve to feel well educated, well prepared, and well supported even if they will never see the inside of a college classroom.
