#13 Little Lights - Extended Review
So there is this seriously dreamy band from Cincinnati, Ohio called Little Lights and they are straight up captivating. I can't really remember how I stumbled across them, but I've been listening to their four song demo release for almost two months now. Imagine a more organic Purity Ring, mixed with a an even more sincere CHVRCHES, with a splash of M83's ethereal magic, and you you've got the silky smooth sound of Little Lights.
The thing about Little Lights that makes them so special is singer Emmie Bishop's vocals. They sound so peaceful and soothing to the point where it's almost heartbreaking, every time I've play the demo I find myself becoming super relaxed and feeling all sappy and sentimental. Little Lights are still fairly new to the world of music with the trio of Bishop, Gabriel Molnar (programming, guitar), and Scot Torres (keys) having only been together since September of last year, but I think this band has huge potential.
The only draw back to being obsessed with Little Lights is that their only release so far is the four song demo I previously mentioned, but all four songs are amazing. After listening to it over 20 times now I still can't decide if the first track "Headlights" or the third track "Weird, OH" is my favorite.
It's rare these days for me to hear a band and be floored right from the first note, but Little Lights totally did it to me and continues to keep me coming back again and again.
The band is currently at work on their debut LP that will hopefully be out by the beginning of next year. So I guess I'll just have to keep the demo on repeat until then and if I were you I would definitely do the same!
