Peter and Kit Visit the Archives...And Then So Do I.

After listening to Peter and Kit speak so highly and energetically about John, I preceded to contact the New School Archives to inquire about information that they may have concerning John Culkin. The documents they produced not only illuminated information about the Media Studies founder, but also the Media Studies Program in general. With vibrant, green colored lockers and crisp white tables, the New School Archives provide a quiet space where you're encouraged to engage with the provided materials. No pens allowed.

From floor plans and resumes to equipment lists and memos, the contents of the manila folders began telling the creation story of not only an academic program but also a critical field of inquiry. And after sifting through a lot of material, I finally decided on a few items that not only point to how the Media Studies has grown both figuratively and literally, but also how the thinking behind the creation of this program hasn't changed a bit.
