Amanda Reeves is a fourth-year PhD student at the University of Alabama. Her research area encompasses twentieth century and contemporary American and British depictions of Russia in fiction. [return to article]
Christina Leah Szajnkrycer is an Assistant Teaching Professor at the Pennsylvania State
University. She completed her graduate studies at the University of Washington. She is a scholar
of 19th century French literature, notably novels set in a rapidly evolving Parisian landscape, and
of early 20th century North African Francophone literature, particularly novels and short stories
written by North African Jewish authors. When it comes to the latter, she is particularly
interested in the many ways, both positive and negative, North African Jewish girls were
influenced by the French colonial education they received. [return to article]
Derek Vouri-Richard is an independent scholar and former Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor
of Film & Media Studies at the College of William & Mary. He researches nontheatrical films
and modernity to illuminate connections between cinema, American capitalism, race, and labor.
His research has been funded by fellowships from the University of Illinois, the Hagley Museum
and Library, and William & Mary. He has presented his scholarship at conferences for the
Society for Cinema and Media Studies, the American Studies Association, and the Space
