Boxing

Boxing was used as a tool to keep the peace around fellow workers and fellow citizens of the same community.  The Steel works YMCA Boys Department would hold home front Boxing tournaments at the YMCA an institution of service to the CF&I community.  With juvenile delinquency at a high rate during war times the Steel Y created juvenile boxing leagues to keep the young boys off the streets.  Pueblo was a very dangerous city back in the day, filled with delinquents, mafia and the KKK.  The Steelworks Y did a splendid job keeping young children out of troubles reach.
