"This is My Father's World'

"This is My Father's World" (1901) was written by Malthie D. Babcock and usually set to the English tune "Terra Beata" (blessed earth).  Babcock was a vivacious student at Syracuse University who went on to become a powerful preacher.  Living between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario for a time, he loved escaping to the outdoors where he wrote these verses about "his Father's world." En route to a trip to the Holy Land in 1901, he caught a deadly bacterial fever and died; his wife had the hymn published within a book of this writings that same year.  It has become a very popular hymn since then.
