"The Bee" (Eddy #46)—Another song which reflects simply on the life of a small creature, here, the bee: “When the morning dries the dew / From the blooming clover, / Off I wing, / Sweets to bring, / Till the day is over” and also includes the “singing” of the bee, using onomatopoeia to create his sound: “Don’t you hear me singing so, / z- z- z- z-“ (Chorus).  Whereas Isaac Watt would write a hymn about the "busy bee" in 1715, using it as an analogy "against idleness and mischief," the Animal Welfare movement simply wanted children to appreciate the bee as a fellow creature.
