But it is a much older folksong, about a "Lady Greensleeves" who leaves her lover. It has been thought to have been written by King Henry 8th, but this is not likely as "A Newe Northen Dittye of ye Ladye Greene Sleves" was first registered (by a Richard Jones) in 1580, after Henry's death. The tune is haunting.
