An old friend of Halliday Mr. Morrow used his unique powers to intrude into the private OASIS chat room where the five gunters, Og, Art3mis, Aech, Wade (I), Shoto, stayed. In order to keep the promise he made to Halliday, which is to protect the spirit and integrity of Halliday's contest, Morrow told them he understood their dangerous situations and wanted to help them find the Easter egg by providing them a sanctuary at his home in Oregon. Then he quickly arranged flights and other kinds of transportation for the five gunters to get to his house. This was the first time the five gunters had a chance to meet each other in the real world. Wade (I) and Aech were arranged on the same trip. When he met Aech, to his surprise, Aech was a black women whose avatar online appeared as a Caucasian male. He asked Aech tell her story. Finally he knew that Aech had been taking on a white male’s identity for a long time because her mother told her only if she took on a male’s identity could she make a success in the world. So Aech really love the virtual world that OASIS create. After her explanation, Wade(I) was not surprised anymore. The two then got to Morrow’s house together.
Aech's distinctive identity both online and offline is an interesting topic that worths devoloping into the exploration of cyber identity. In chapter 30, Aech is the one whom IOI can get the least information about. She cares her identity so much that she is cautious about the privacy of her identity and tries to conceal her identity as much as she can. Internet provides a platform where people can take on whatever roles and identities that they cannot or do not have opportunities to demonstrate in the real world. To some extent, Internet also provides an tunnel through which people can release a shaded part of themelves. But along with the wide popularization of internet, the government of some countries demand the verification of the true identity. So the identity along with the emergence of the internet is a heated topic and what is real and what is virtual in the world is also an issue worthy of contemplating.
