Arte de La Raza - Hispanic Americans

Hispanic Americans: Politics and Community (1970s-Present) is much less detailed in the way it explains its curation. Although it does present a selection of images, it deoesn’t offer very much in the way of explaining the choices that were made in the process of putting this exhibit together. The images are presented with only one page of analysis that offers historical background on the Chicano Movement, the NFWA/UFW, and some thoughts on the place of Latinos in California today. There is quite a bit of political art present here alongside documentary photography, but the artwork is presented without much comment, and its political function is left to speak for itself rather than engaging with the copy on the page. Even enlarging individual images by clicking on them reveals only metadata as opposed to any kind of analysis. It does, however, include a small set of educational tools to tie the exhibit in with California 11th grade curricula. This indicates some kind of proposed audience for these research materials.
