About the Project
Margaret Wise Brown is a Hollins alumna of the class of 1932 and a notable figure in the realm of children’s literature. Given her literary accomplishments, such as the success of the popular story Goodnight Moon, she is a key figure in Hollins’ history of producing writers and scholars who go on to achieve greatness. By releasing Margaret Wise Brown’s correspondences and letters to the public, we hope to give greater insight into not only her published writing but her writing in her personal life as well.
This site contains a collection of transcripts of her correspondences with others during the years 1947 to 1949, which were left to the Hollins University archives. The correspondences between Margaret Wise Brown, family members, friends, and lovers disclose the inner workings of the esteemed author’s daily life.
