Political Actions

Bryn Mawr students engaged in activism for LGBT causes on and off campus. These are some of the instances I've gathered of Mawrtyrs stepping outside the bubble to make their voices heard:

In December of 1992, Mawrtyrs joined the women of the Philadelphia Lesbian Visibility Project at a local mall to stage an awareness exercise. They busted stigmas by shopping while holding hands with other women and kissing in public. Read the full coverage by The Philadelphia Inquirer here.

Bryn Mawr College Special Collections holds a copy of an article in The Community Focus, a newspaper serving the Hispanic community in Philadelphia, which mentions Bryn Mawr College students attending the 5th Annual AIDS Walk on Sunday, October 27, 1991.
