This project brings together a set of artificial intelligence-driven generative art works created by Elea Zhong in April 2022 using text and images from the works of Lewis Carroll.
Generative Jabberwocky offers a set of videos in which a generative adversarial network (GAN) “interprets” Carroll’s Jabberwocky line by line. Each video represents a different style with which Elea deploys the GAN.
Essential Alice presents a set of AI-driven art works for five central characters in Lewis Carroll’s Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Elea created the art works by training a Vector Quantized Generative Adversarial Network (VQGAN) + Contrastive Language–Image Pre-training (CLIP) on a diverse set of illustrations for each character. These illustrations were taken from USC Libraires’ G. Edward Cassady, M.D. and Margaret Elizabeth Cassady, R.N, Lewis Carroll Collection.
