HK

A HK is an abbreviation for Huis Komitee, translated to house committee. It involves 12 members of the residence being voted in by their peers to run and lead the residence for a yearly term. These 12 members are usually respected within the building and recognized as being participators in tradition and events.  HK, once voted in, receive training and faculties. They hold titles within their respective residences, and are the top of the residence hierarchy. Part of the HKs are the Vice chairperson as well as the chairperson. These are the overall leaders of the house. The only person higher in charge is the house parent, a lecturer who lives in the building and manages the students. Other specialist HK roles include the ienkvoog, who handles first year affairs, and the cultural Hks, who do events such as serrie and socials for the residence.

They wear very formal clothing. The men wear suits, with badges and embelishments, while girls wear elegant dresses, in their specific colors. The HK handle most issues within the residence and also are key participator in the handing down of tradition,working with the firt years during welcoming week.
