In connection with the Beach Museum in Manhattan, Kansas, this digital archive will explore the works of visual artist and Kansas native John Steuart Curry. Focusing on his work as an illustrator, this archive will take a look at the different processes Curry went through in the development of his work for The Red Badge of Courage, a war novel by Stephen Crane.
The goal of this project is to help highlight some of Curry's lesser-known work, as well as educate visitors on artistic processes. Additionally, the archive will help promote the Beach Museum, and the large collections of works and resources that it currently holds. Finally, it will help to preserve information about Curry, and the important things he did for the state of Kansas.
