The parables of Jesus in Luke are by far the most famous and influential in the Christian interpretive tradition. Moreover--as we have discussed the parable confusion and misunderstanding motif that occurs in different ways in Matthew and Mark--it is worth noting that the misunderstanding motif is generally absent from Luke. Friends, enemies as well as neutral crowds all seem to understand the parables, the message to which they respond accordingly.
