Other Narrative Tools

In order to best and most effectively tell their stories, video games employ different tools, depending on the type of game and the narrative it shares.  By telling stories through a level’s environment, by having a character narrate what’s happening, and by breaking the dramatic fourth wall entirely, games engage players in their stories in ways that are novel and, especially in video games, unexpected.
