MY INTELLECTUAL MIXTAPE
My development as a person and a writer can be attributed to three important sources which were critical to my growth and the expansion of my thought. Nas’s debut album, Illmatic, the mini-series Roots, and my involvement with the non-profit magazine Skribbler’s Magazine Inc, all contributed to this development. My growth as a writer and person turned my interest to the field of sociology and gave me the drive to educate myself about issues of social justice and oppression. This passion is reflected in my writing, coursework, as well as my music. The impact of these three sources as made me focused on using my creative abilities and ingenuity in the field of sociology in order to spark social change.
