From the early 1970s to the mid-1980s Charles Amirkhanian programmed experimental music concerts and made radio broadcasts for the Cabrillo Contemporary Music Festivals. From the early 1980s, Jim Newman facilitated concerts and workshops through the California College of Performing Arts, an organization that later became Other Minds.
