This is a very old postal system which actually started at the time of British ruling in the year 1858. After independence, the postal service is expanded to operate on a nationwide. It has been restructured into different organizations which are regional offices, superintendent's offices, head post offices, sub-post offices and branch offices. This has nearly 155,000 post offices in both rural and urban areas. Because of its reach across the country, it offers small banking and financial services. The India post as of 2015 has 500,000 active employees and operated 200,000 vehicles in 2016.Postal Services
