Instagram is a fantastic platform for brands no matter how small or big to drive their market and gain exposure. However, growing interactive and loyal followers on the app isn't such an easy task as people make it seem, it requires hard work and dedication. Sadly, a majority of the articles on the subject of growing your followers on Instagram are either too vague, have low impact, are expensive, or are exhaustively time-consuming. I have tested a ridiculous amount of different methods of growing my Instagram account, and through these rough experiences, I have compiled a list of practical ways to build your Instagram followers on a shoestring budget.
1. Create an Attractive Profile.
Most people overlook this, but they seem to forget that how you appear, depends on how serious people take you. It doesn't just apply physically; it also applies to Instagram. Create an attractive profile photo, if it means going to the studio to take some fabulous shots, please do! Also creating a witty bio can also help make your profile attractive. It is okay to throw in a few emoji if necessary. The most important thing to note when writing a bio is to be clear on what your Instagram page is all about. If you have a link to your homepage or any brand link that could extend the bond with your followers, you can go ahead to add that as well.
2. Post With Interesting and Descriptive Captions.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but that is not to say the words should be left out entirely. A little storytelling alongside your uploaded picture should generate engagement and sharing, which in turn attracts followers to your account.
3. Use Relevant Hashtags
Truth is you are not the only one on Instagram with a monopoly of services or goods. There are other people like you and these people probably have been on Instagram way before you and have established a niche for themselves. There are also people who assume that the service they are looking for might be on Instagram. Thus, they can as well hit search and hashtag their interest. The idea is to make your brand available by using these hashtags while posting new contents. You can go the extra mile, which you should, in creating your hashtag that will motivate your audience to share photos related to your brand.
4. Follow Other Relevant Users
The easy way to do this is to target the influencers in your area of expertise and turn on their post notification and get interactive with them. You can also click on their followers and follow them. If you follow these steps from step 1 to this point, at least 50% of people you follow will follow you back.
5. Promote your Instagram Presence on Other Social Networks.
Assuming you have already built a customer base/fan base on another social network, it is important to let those fans know about your Instagram presence. You can share a link to your Instagram profile and woo your existing social followers by providing an incentive to check your Instagram account out.
6. Promote your Instagram account using Instagram Tools.
At this point, you should have a good foundation for growth as it would help you accelerate even faster. First, you should start using engagement groups. Then, you should consider investing in Instagram ads as they are very affordable. But you can only use this feature if you change your account to a business account.

7. Post Consistently and at the Right Time.
Scheduling your post enables your existing followers to anticipate your post. Your followers want to see something new and exciting every time you post, and the rule of the market is to stay relevant. Staying relevant translates into being consistent with your post. Keep in mind that the best time for your brand will likely be different. It is imperative to figure out when that is. Consider your audience, what does their typical day look like? When are they most active on Instagram?
It has been discovered that daily posting will grow your Instagram followers four times faster than once or twice a week.
