Wolfe Poem 6 Annotation 1

The scene is set in motion from the start, and it is interesting that Justice decided to emphasize that there are in fact no flowers. It is automatically understood that most trees and flowers do not bear leaves or fruit during winter, and therefore, there is an absence of life, which perhaps could be what he is referring to in the title.
