Wolfe Poem 4 Annotation 1

This comparison between the calmness of unconsciousness and that of pictures is eye-opening once the rest of the poem is read because a state of a dazed stupor is much like what one experiences when viewing a picture of the past that he or she was not a part of. They have no idea what the feelings were behind the subject of the picture, or anything for that matter, apart from the simple setting.
