3. The narrator repeats what he said in the first line. Before, he was planning on doing something, actually going to this island. Now, it appears that he is just building a cabin in his imagination to get away. The metaphor of the speaker hearing the lake water lapping is also a strong indication of just how badly he wishes to be at this place. He wants to be there, but the best he can do is imagine.
