Introduction

This is a collection of poetry exhibits or anthologies that constitute the final project for English 2260, Introduction to Poetry, at The Ohio State University during the Autumn 2014 semester. For these projects, students selected a topic or rationale for their exhibit and included three poems from the assigned text and readings and three poems from other sources. This topic or rationale can be thematic, formal, aesthetic, rhetorical, etc. For each poem, students have composed an introductory head note and have included at least three substantial interlinear annotations explaining significant moments in the poem. Students also have composed an audio recording for each poem. Lastly, students composed a general introduction to their exhibit's topic or rationale. This final project resists the traditional research paper and takes seriously that the goal of an introduction to poetry course is the cultivation of a critical appreciation and understanding of how poetry works.

For each student's work, access the links below and follow the "path" that appears after the general introduction.
