  Young voters will have a significant impact in the outcome of the 2016 election, maybe more than ever before. Young voters make up about 20% of the total voting population. There's more young voters than baby boomers, this is the first time this has ever occurred. Year by year the turnout for young voter's are diminishing, at 2014 elections less than twenty percent participated and the projected for 2016 is even less. Not only are the amount of young voters participating fading, their knowledge about the candidates running is not going much better.Young voters find most their information about the candidates online through Facebook or Twitter."Currently, 61% of young people are white, 17% are Hispanic, 15% are African-American, 4% are Asian, and the remaining 3% are of mixed or Native American descent"(Agiesta, J). Young voters are the most demographically diverse of all the generations so they can give the most accurate representation. Also, young voters were surveyed and only 25% of them said they would vote for Trump while 61% said they would vote for Clinton. Campaigns are starting to be more directed toward young voters because the population of the youth is higher than ever. Candidates like Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton are taking to Twitter to state their opinions and views, which is where youths are getting a majority of their knowledge about the two candidates.  ​Pie Chart of Young Voters in Politics
