Be kind to yourself

The story is about an old man who lost his wife, and sets out on an adventure to keep the promise he made to his wife. This was to do the last thing they were planning to do, the old man Carl Fredricksen, his wife Ellie Fredricksen, and a little boy who is a wilderness explorer Russell. The story is an animation by Pixar shown in the cinema all around the world. A scene that I remember is when Carl and Ellie save up money for their trip but sudden obstacles kept pushing them back and needing to spend that money on other things, however they kept on saving up money even after spending them to go on their trip.

When someone is young, life seems fun and loving. As they grow up obstacles force them to change. After my father passed away when I was 8 years old, Money was very tight. Whatever we saved up was spent on school and university tuition kept increasing yearly. As I was watching the movie, I could quickly see how my life related to it. I remember getting goosebumps, laughing and tearing throughout the movie. When I first saw this movie I was about 20 and the only thing I could relate to was the need to save up money and suddenly needing to use it for difference purposes.in addition; the loss of someone I dearly loved and needed in my life. However; as I write this 7 years later, I see how this story has a lot more that I can relate to. At 27, I embarked on a new adventure, I went back to university to study what I’ve always wanted TV & Film. Working with young innovative people who are younger than me by 7-9 years resembles the movie where Carl and Russell set out to find the mountain top in which Ellie dreamt of. I don’t feel the age difference because age is just a number. This story is known by many people who like watching animation films. I haven’t really shared how my life is connected to this movie with anyone.

This story can inspire people not to give up on the things they love, it could also teach people not to forget to do the things they love, and if something stops them, they should get right back up and keep going. I don’t believe this story has mobilized people to do any action. However this story could help people know that doing the thing they love is very important. Money and fame isn’t important in life, however; waking up in the morning and knowing you’re going to do something you’re happy doing would make life mean something. The words love, happiness, youth, and adventure are very important. Robin Williams once said “you’re only given a little spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it”. The human spirit is born pure, and it’s only when we choose to forget our purity we begin to forget what and who we want to be. The sweetest kid in school would end up in jail, or the funniest boy would get depressed. I have never shared this story with anyone, but I hope now that I have it would help others be who they want to be in life.
