Reproductive Justice

The Barnard Women’s Center was founded in 1971, just a few short years before the landmark legal case Roe v. Wade was decided by the Supreme Court in 1973. Born in the height of second wave feminism, reproductive justice was (and still is) at the forefront of the Center’s programming, advocacy, and scholarly focus. Indeed, by looking at the history of reproductive justice in BCRW’s 50-year history, we can understand how the movement for reproductive rights has shifted—or stayed the same—over the years.
