Post Baseball
In 1978, well after his baseball career ended, Larry Doby became the manager of the Chicago White Sox. He didn't have a very good season though, ending with a 37-50 record. After the 1978 season, Doby was fired from his manager position, but stayed active in Major League Baseball. He was an administrator of the Former Players Licensing Branch of Major League Baseball and in 1995 he became the special assistant of the American League President, Gene Budig. In 1998, Larry Doby was elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame (McMurray).
