The Classic Rock Forum

The classic rock forum is a discussion forum that is dedicated to rock fans from the 1970's and 1980's. We talk about modern rock music as well but mostly from that era.

We have dedicated sections on Pink Floyd who are an English band from London who started out in the 1960's with psychedelic music before turning to the more familiar style of music that we are all familiar with in the 1970's. Although they had minor success with their Meddle album, their big breakthrough came in the early 70's when they released their dark side of the moon album which became an all time classic best seller and made all the band members very rich and famous. They had further success with wish you were here and the wall before going into a period of turmoil with band members like Roger Waters leaving.

The next section is on probably the best and most successful rock band in history, Led Zeppelin. Led Zeppelin have never released a single into the pop charts although if they had released the likes of stairway to heaven it would surely have went to number one. However every album that the band released went to number one in the album charts and they remain one of the biggest rock bands in the world to this day.

Next we have hawkwind, like pink floyd, hawkwind stated out as a psychedelic band in the 60's before turning to their more familiar brand of space rock in the 70's. With Iain (Lemmy) kilminster on bass guitar and lead vocals they went on to have a number two hit with silver machine in 1972. The band have had several different line ups over the years especially after Lemmy left to form Motorhead but with founding member Dave Brock at the helm the band have spanned six decades and with more than 30 studio albums under their belt are still touring to this day.

Next we have a section on Prog Rock which includes bands like Yes, Rush, Genesis, Caravan and many more.

Finally we have a general section on classic rock where you can discuss all your favorite bands like AC/DC, the Who, Black Sabbath etc.

We also have hundreds of classic rock album reviews as well as album lyrics and lots of classic albums that you can stream or download.
