Acousmatic
Acousmatic (CHION 2009, 465) is an adjective coined by French composer Pierre Schaeffer in 1952. A sound is said to be "acousmatic" when it can be heard, yet its source remains invisible. An offscreen sound is always, by definition, acousmatic; but once its physical source has been revealed, it loses its acousmatic quality: it has been de-acousmazicized (see deacousmatization).
