Our Bodies, Ourselves

Boston Women’s Health Book Collective - reference sources - 1971 - p. 76

Conceived and executed by a nonprofit group then called the Boston Women’s Health Book Collective, this nonfiction text contains information about an array of topics regarding health, sexuality, reproductive rights, domestic abuse, and more. Many of these topics were suppressed and stigmatized, making the book a controversial and immensely important resource for women as well as promoting active female engagement with health and sexuality rather than passively accepting male dominance, as the general culture tended to dictate. To date Our Bodies, Ourselves has been translated into 30 languages.

Key elements: activism, feminism
