Gentleman's Quarterly
Periodical - 1931 - pp. 181, 186
Gentleman's Quarterly, or GQ, is a monthly fashion and lifestyle magazine designed for men; it was initially published as Apparel Arts in 1933 and later rebranded as Gentleman’s Quarterly and, ultimately, GQ in 1967. Its current fashion editor, Nonnie Moore, previously carried out similar duties at Mademoiselle and Harper’s Bazaar. Editors-in-chief for the US publication have included Everett Mattlin, Jack Haber, Art Cooper, and, presently, Jim Nelson.
GQ has been criticized for its sexist representations of women, as the relatively few women who appear in its pages are often asked to pose with little or no clothing, while the men are almost universally fully clothed. The magazine is published in numerous countries throughout the world with an audience comprised largely of single men with annual incomes of $50,000 or higher.
