Who is Alexander the Great?

Alexander the Great’s full name is Alexander III of Macedon.  His life stretched for 33 years from 356 BC to 323 BC.  Alexander the Great succeeded his father, Philip II, at the age of twenty.  By the age of thirty, he ends up creating one of the largest empires of the ancient world.  His empire stretched from Greece to India and down in Egypt.  Creating this expansive empire was what Alexander the Great spent most of his time working on during his ruling years.

An interesting fact of Alexander the Great is he was tutored by the famous Aristotle until the age of 16.  Alexander the Great is known as one of the most successful military commanders in history.  In 334 BC, he invaded the Achaemenid Empire and pursued a campaign lasting 10 years.  Eventually, he overthrew the Persian King, Darius III, and conquered the complete empire.  In 326 BC, Alexander the Great invaded India to stretch his empire.  However, he eventually turned back at the thought of his men.  Alexander the Great died in 323 BC in would-be capital of his empire, Babylon.

Below is a documentary of Alexander the Great and his empire.  It goes father in-depth than just some of the major battles of his conquest:
