Cotes, was the widow of Richard Cotes, who had worked in partnership with his brother Thomas until the latter's death in 1642. In that year, Richard was appointed the official printer to the City of London. Upon his death in 1652, she inherited his business. In a London survey of 1668, she is shown as managing three presses, two apprentices and nine pressmen.
