Henriette Metcalf
Henriette Metcalfwas born into a wealthy Chicago family (Souhami 167). In 1911, she married Willard Metcalf, a successful painter. Together, they had two children: Rosalind and Addison. Henriette and Addison were very close and exchanged hundreds of letters detailing their lives to one another. Henriette was a model wife, staying at home to take care of the children, and participating in many of the appropriate social events designed for a woman of her class. Though she divorced Metcalf, she kept his name for the rest of her life. (Flahardy 1).
