As you might expect with a mobile scene, geography plays an important role in the history of the crews. Each was tied intimately to specific geographic sites, especially neighborhoods and schools. The map to the side is a based on Filipino American population distribution, circa 1990, and not only highlights where Filipino American families settled around the Bay but also mirrors where the mobile crews themselves emerged (since family support and Filipino community networks were crucial to the scene's growth).

We are currently playing with interactive ways to explore the scene geographically and will be making upgrades to what you find. Currently, we have a series of maps by school sites. Coming soon: maps by event sites.
