The Role of Artistic Creativity in the Lives of Israeli Emigres in Los Angeles

Adi Shapira: Interview

Self-Discovery: A Musical Connection to the Holy Land

03/03/2017 - Video of Adi Shapira in an interview about her journey, life, and experience as a daughter of Israeli immigrant parents. Filmed at Beit Hillel, Los Angeles by Tal Hauser. Interview by Victoria Pelman.

While being interviewed, Adi realized that piano was more connected to her love of Israel than she initially thought. When I started asking her about her favorite music to listen to, Israeli artists were the first on her mind. Living in Los Angeles, she maintained a strong bond with Israel.  Music was a pivotal extension of Israeli culture for her. Her family surrounded her with Israeli music growing up and as a result, music for her had become a direct connection to her culture and a personal passion in her own identity and career choice.
