Sinai Temple: Profound Sermons

Rabbi Wolpe is known for his sermons, and for his stances on controversial topics. For instance, he gave a profound sermon on gossip, which he said was due to the Persian community.  He explained: “The reason that I say that is not because others don’t gossip; everybody gossips. But when you have a tight community, gossip is more harmful… If you have a tight community, then gossip moves around very fast.” Many members of the Persian community still ask Rabbi Wolpe to speak about gossip, and he does so because of how harmful it has been in the past, and how often it is inaccurate. The reaction he got from the community was not necessarily a negative one, but he went on to state “any community is pleased to be praised and upset to be attacked.”
