Elat Market: Who Does it Serve?
When Elat Market first opened, it equally served the Iranian and American communities in the Pico-Robertson area. However, as time progressed, the business owners noticed that catering to the Persian customers was more profitable because they bought more than other customers. Therefore, the market brought in more specialty products for the Iranian community such as rice, cheeses, spices, and oils to satisfy their needs. Today, the demographic of the customers consists of 70% Iranian and the remaining 30% are Israeli or American.
