Stimulus Film

For this experiment Da Prato thought it would be interesting to use portraits of the subjects themselves. Da Prato and Lloyd decided that subjects should receive all three rain prompts with a visual portrait of Einbond giving the instructions, and then the subjects should receive the same prompts with a film of themselves giving the instructions. Da Prato created a portrait of Einbond giving instructions, and portraits of the three subjects giving themselves instructions, which were matched with the musical stimuli.

Both the visual and the auditory "tracks" of the stimulus film are artistic creations. The responses generated, then, are not only the responses of subjects to a stimulus, but also the responses of spectators to a film.
