Patrick Keating

Patrick Keating is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication at Trinity University, where he teaches courses in film and media studies. His book, Hollywood Lighting from the Silent Era to Film Noir (2010), won the Best First Book Award from the Society of Cinema and Media Studies. He is the editor of Cinematography (2014). For his research on camera movement, he was named an Academy Film Scholar by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, and he received a Frederick Burkhardt Fellowship for Recently Tenured Scholars from the American Council of Learned Societies. His videographic essay, "The Homeless Ghost: The Moving Camera and its Analogies," which he started at the 2015 workshop, was published by [in]Transition
