The Videographic Essay: Practice and Pedagogy

Katie Bird

Katie Bird is an Assistant Professor of Digital Media Production and Film studies at the University of Texas-El Paso in the department of Communication. She holds degrees in Film Production, Cultural Studies and completed her PhD in Film and Media Studies at the University of Pittsburgh. Katie attended the second workshop and utilizes videographic experiments and tools in her historiographical research and undergraduate teaching. She has written on Steadicam, The American Cinema Editors guild, and 1920s mountaineering camera operators and is currently preparing a book manuscript on the embodied discourse of technical craft labor in Hollywood from 1919-1985.
