French versus Italian Taste in Louis XIV's France

This podcast was created by MUMH 5110–History of Opera, a course called "Quarreling about Opera in Eighteenth-Century Paris," held at the University of North Texas during the spring 2016. Masters and doctoral students used their academic research as well as open access sources to historically re-enact the quarrels in a series of three podcasts. Told from the perspective of an unnamed up-and-coming composer, the first podcast reveals the tense relations between French and Italian opera in Louis XIV's France.
