“Fine Dignity, Picturesque Beauty, and Serious Purpose”

All we ask and expect is a fair hearing and the same consideration
which would be given to a great organization of men, an organization of
national scope and size. For we are proposing to bring to Washington the
leading women from every state in the Union – women of splendid standing and
dignity, college women, professional women, homemakers, mothers, and workers.
The demonstration is to be one of fine dignity, picturesque beauty, and serious
purpose.[1]
