Throughout the Great Purge, Stalin  was able to institute fear among the inhabitants of the Soviet Union and maintain a firm grip on the country. Stalin was a horrible leader and a horrible ally. Even when people would do all that he asked of them, by the end of the day none of that mattered because it was always what Stalin wanted. The great purge was a mad man’s obsession with power and his anxiety fueled his need to eliminate anyone who posed any sort of threat to him. 

The following are only a couple of the thousands purged. These select few are the some of the more famous of the people who found themselves purged by Stalin.
