Day 3 Yoga Aleena and Emily

After another wild, windy, and wet practice on the water with limited rain gear, the team took a long trek back to the hotel to seek shelter from Poseidon’s wrath. Upon our arrival back to the hotel most of us went back to our rooms to warm up and change out of our soggy clothes. The dry clothes felt great against our sore and rain soaked bodies. 


Due to the inclement weather we were unable to have our picture perfect yoga session on the beach. Instead, we had to bring our yoga session indoors. Saint Joe’s Women’s Rowing took over the continental breakfast area and turned it into our own peaceful and relaxing yoga studio. We were greeted by the beautiful aura and warmth of our yoga instructor. We pushed aside the breakfast tables and laid our towels down on the remnants of morning’s breakfast. As we sat there feeling the Rice Krispy’s snap, crackle, and pop under our bodies, we began our first yoga pose. 


As we began to stretch and loosen our bodies, a sense of poise and relaxation overcame us like the winds and waves of the Atlantic Ocean crashing against the sandy beaches of Miami just outside our hotel. Our instructor started us off with simple breathing and stretching exercises to erase the built up tension of today’s practices. As time progressed, we got into more difficult and technical yoga poses that required a lot of physical and mental strength and focus. During the limited time we spent with our instructor our bodies transformed into strong, fluid, poised versions of our former, post-practice selves. 


After today’s sessions our bodies are prepared and ready for the rest of this week’s practices. We look forward to our next yoga session and the challenges ahead.
