Scientific Looking, Looking At Science

Introduction

The topics mainly came from the section in the book titled images as evidence: cataloging the body. This section focused on a wide selection of topics, but the topics that were chosen were hypnosis, facial expressions, and photography. These topics complimented each other because photography strengthened the case studies of both hypnosis and facial expressions. These studies helped the public understanding the logic of each topic, with the purpose to stress positive. Hypnosis when first introduced to us from the chapter was directed at the dramatics of women giving the impression on hypnosis a bad reputation, but this viewpoint strips the positive value hypnosis actually provides to people.
The section on hypnosis focuses on the positive rather than the negative of hypnosis, while informing people that what you get out of the process is what you give to it. The process can be very helpful to the public and instead of reinstating the negative associated with hypnosis; we will instead educate and explain the positive. Along with that we will speak on the positives of mental health treatment that have been said to help gain better control of certain disabilities. As the section carries out we will dive into the study of facial expressions. We have broken down the theory of ones poker face, and informed people that the expression of a smile sure does go a long way.
The facial expressions section will also touch bases on the differences in cultures changing facial expressions, but this only allows us to better understand the emotion and expression. While learning that not all expressions are formed the same, we can see certain traits that are commonly carried through the different features. An experiment was conducted, which allowed for us to show expressions on different faces, but because the expression of a smile was a discussed heavily in the paper along with the understanding of the six universal expression we show two examples of that expression to compare the results. Photography played a key role in gathering visual information to strengthen the studies conducted. This is what allows each topic to relate and flow nicely together because they have a way of complement each other
The study of the human anatomy has been around for centuries. Without our prior knowledge in this field of science, medicine would not be as hands-on and innovative as it is today. We take for granted how important this subject is when it comes to the importance of anatomical knowledge in the medical field. We expect the utmost care from our surgeons and physicians when they are working on our bodies; but we frequently oversee the importance of being an expert in their field and the hard work that goes into retaining this knowledge. From the beginning of the anatomical era, many anatomists and scientists have experimented and came up with new ways to better ourselves and allow us to be able to attain a healthy lifestyle. Through organ transplants and bone restructures, we have come a long way as humankind to be able to successfully perform these procedures.
The anatomy of the body is very involved when it comes to the process of autopsy. Autopsies have been performed since the birth of anatomical knowledge and have helped us discover many new diseases, infections, and illnesses in the body. They have also allowed crime labs to discover the cause of deaths in many crime scenes and accidental passing’s. Pathologists are able to dissect and remove the major organs of the deceased body; which can then be used during a transplant or are donated to hospitals who are in need of constantly requested organ transplants.
Genetics have been around since the beginning of time and can support someone’s health history, heritage and genetic makeup. Within addictions, genetics can be a big contributor and can answer many questions as to why some people are more prone to becoming alcohol, drug, or tobacco addicts. As science continues to develop, we will soon be exposed to new medical breakthroughs and treatments for ill individuals from all aspects of health.
Images play such a large part in the field of science. It is one that has images that can only be seen in a certain kind of setting. When one sees an image from a scientific or a medical field, they can easily identify it as such. They convey certain meanings and show some astounding things. Ultrasounds can be used to see the fetus that is growing inside of a woman. This is the medical image that is most widely shared with the public. It is the picture that marks the beginning of a family. The images obtained through ultrasound are also at the center of controversy. It is widely used in the pro and anti abortion argument. An ultrasound is just like any other image in the way that it can hold multiple meanings depending on who is viewing it.
Images also play a crucial role in understanding the human body. For example, when doctors are trying to better understand mental illness they can consult brain scans. This allows them to further explore the effects of diseases and illnesses that affect the brain. Relying solely on how a patient is acting has been the standard for years. It tends to be fairly accurate but there is always room for improvement. The introduction of imagery into diagnosis and deciding treatment can be beneficial. It also can be helpful in the courtroom when defendants plead that they are suffering from mental illness.
Images can also be influential in the world of recreational drugs. Images can be very powerful and by showing the detrimental effects of drug use they can deter people from starting to use them. It is also a helpful aid in the research of the effects on the body. With the continued research it is likely that the culture of using recreational drugs will change.
Visualization and images play a major role today in our everyday live as well as the field of science. Many of the images in field of science are unique and have different meanings. Such images that have these qualities are those in the field of science and particularly to health industry. That images in this industry play an major role then most realize. Things like X-ray, MRI, and the Visualization of pharmaceuticals have images that play a role in way in which we visualize the body.
Visualizing the body has changed over the years in a way that we have a better visualization or understanding of what it looks like.  That the visualization of the body has helped with the understanding of the body and how it looks internally. Using techniques such as X-rays and MRI’s to help look at what looks like as well as help in diagnosing. Help diagnosing in way they using the image to relate to boy and determine what’s going on within it, for example a brain scan to determine if their may be a tumor to if something not functioning correctly.
Visualizing pharmaceuticals in respect that everyone relating to the advertisement images thinking they may need what’s being advertised. That it's looking at the body in a relation to you own and it having an impact on the viewer. That they should purchase what’s being offered even when may not apply to them but they somehow relate to the image they are viewing. Images play a big role in today's society in relation to the field of science and how we look at the body.
