Posthuman Music: Paradigm of the Post-Anthropocentric Turn

Analog-to-Digital Conversion (ADC)

Analog to Digital Conversion (ADC), the process by which an analog wave form (e.g. electrical wave, a sound wave in the real world, etc.) is transformed into a discrete set of 1's and 0's that the computer can understand. But information is necessarily lost in the process, so digital audio will always be at best an approximation of sound waves in the real world. This is a process that happens any time music information is sent to and processed by a computer.
