Octagonal Pillar of the Shimabuji Temple

Octagonal Pillar
This is a picture of the mass hall where people wait patiently on their knees for monks to begin. This mass hall is an open space that is filled with paper hangings that make sounds when the wind blows into the space. In the middle is an octagonal pillar that is dedicated to Jizo. There are different offerings that change depending on the season, for example, rice, water, and vegetables. They go here to pray for the well being of the dead, showing that they have great respect towards their ancestors.
